🌎 South Omaha ‘Global Market’ Breaks Ground

The Gist: A new South Omaha Global Market is officially underway, transforming a long-vacant South 24th Street building into a vibrant food and culture hub. Backed by $4.3 million from a state recovery grant and $827,000 in city support, the first phase will feature a commercial kitchen, food vendors, outdoor trucks, and event space.
Why It Matters: The $9.4 million project celebrates South Omaha’s immigrant roots and aims to boost local business along the Latino merchant corridor. Phase one is expected to open by late 2026. Read more here.
🌸 And… A New Girls Inc. Center is Being Built, too!

The Gist: A bright new chapter is unfolding for Girls Inc. as construction begins on a 36,000-square-foot center in South Omaha. The future space will welcome up to 300 girls with classrooms, a playground, and a multi-sport field: all designed for learning, laughter, and growth.
Why It Matters: Families say the center will give local girls a safe place to discover their strengths and celebrate their cultures, with more bilingual staff joining to serve the neighborhood. The grand opening is planned for December 2027. Read more here.

Nova Lee is a 9-year-old Boxer Terrier mix with plenty of Omaha spirit!
With just the right touch of mischief, she’s housebroken, well-mannered, and even learned not to dash out the door, though she’ll happily chase a squirrel or two on patrol.
At 68 pounds, she’s a fetch fanatic, walk enthusiast, and slipper-snuggler who prefers being the only four-legged star of the household. Best with teens or adults.
Adoption fee: $265.
