We’ve been hearing from more of you lately, and it’s been fun seeing what everyone’s into right now!

More coffee spots, more things to do with friends, more ways to just get out of the house. This week’s Scoop leans into all of that. Think good food, creative energy, and a couple reasons to wander around town.

🥐 Housemade pastries and clever morning staples

4919 Underwood Ave, Omaha, NE
Good Lookin’ has a way of making the early hours feel curated rather than rushed.
The space is a bright, polished sanctuary where the menu leans into thoughtful textures: like the Churro French Toast, which uses Japanese milk bread and a cornflake crust to achieve a perfect custardy center.
If you’re still planning your Easter table, secure a tray of their Cadbury egg cinnamon rolls or olive oil cake topped with salted pistachios. From the Avocado Caesar Fried Chicken Sandwich to a simple, well-poured coffee, the experience is a stylish treat.

🎨 Colorful chaos and handmade springtime charm

12100 W Center Rd STE 1101, Omaha, NE
The Makery is the ultimate neighborhood craft closet! Right now, the space is buzzing with locals down to get those bright, striped bunny hangers and floral egg kits for their front doors.
Any day though, you can walk in without a plan and leave with something you are actually proud to hang up. Need a hand with a staple gun or just some help sketching a tricky outline? Their staff is always right there with a smile.
Catch a class and spend a slow Saturday afternoon getting a little paint on your hands.

🏠 Step Inside Omaha’s Dreamiest New Doorsteps

The Gist The Metro Omaha Builders Association and Build Omaha are throwing open the doors for the 2026 Spring Parade of Homes, featuring 77 stunning properties across 61 local developments. Whether you’re a first-time buyer or looking for a forever home, you can tour everything from cozy $295,000 builds to $1.6 million luxury estates over the weekends of April 11–12 and 18–19. This year’s lineup is packed with "wow" factors like chef-inspired kitchens, spa-like bathrooms with freestanding tubs, and even spaces prepped for elevators.
Why It Matters It’s a fun way to spend a spring afternoon: admission is free, and we even get to vote for our favorite spots like "Best Street Appeal" to honor the craftsmanship that makes Omaha feel like home.
🏗️ Omaha’s Skyline Just Reached a New Peak

The Gist After three years of hard work and six years of dreaming, Mutual of Omaha has officially placed the final beam on its new downtown headquarters, which now stands as the tallest building in both Nebraska and Iowa. Reaching a whopping 677 feet, this skyscraper was brought to life with steel from our very own Drake Williams Steel and is expected to open its doors in November 2026.
Why It Matters While it’s a massive feat of engineering, it’s also a promise of more activity and life for our local businesses and streets. Keeping an eye on that 677-foot silhouette isn't just about watching a building go up; it’s about watching Omaha grow into its next chapter together.

🐾 Bambi is a gray tabby who has transitioned from her feral roots
Now nearly five years old and weighing six pounds, this medium-sized lady enjoys being near her people, though she prefers keeping her paws on the ground rather than being held.
She is wonderful with other cats and has even taken a young kitten under her wing. While she is litterbox trained, she would do best in a patient, adult-only home. Her adoption fee is $65.
