🏐 Where the home team is always her

Located in the heart of Benson, SET The Bar is redefining the sports bar experience with a mission-driven focus on women’s athletics.
The space feels intentional and polished, trading cold metal chairs for a sleek, curved bar and a rooftop patio with sweeping neighborhood views.
While the screens stay tuned to the game, the kitchen serves up thoughtful plates like Pozole Rojo and a standout smash burger. It’s a community-centric hub where inclusivity is the standard and the vibe is always elevated.

🏈 Football and bowling finally get hitched

With the championship game right around the corner, the energy at Fowling Warehouse is picking up speed. There is a specific kind of Omaha pride in finding a spot that handles a crowd with such ease, especially when the winter chill settles over the city.
You might find yourself here on a Sunday morning browsing the indoor market for artisan loaves and handmade wares, but the real magic happens when the footballs start flying.
The thud of the ball hitting the floor and the clatter of pins provide a steady rhythm for an afternoon of friendly competition. It is the sort of place where you can bring your own spread of snacks, grab a cold drink at the bar, and lose track of time trying to master that perfect spiral.

👟 Walking Together for the Dream

The Gist: As the chill settles over the city, our community is preparing to gather for a morning of warmth and reflection. Omaha’s third annual Keep the Dream Alive walk takes place on January 31 to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Neighbors will meet at the MLK monument at 24th and Lake Streets to celebrate local milestones, including the historic leadership of Mayor John Ewing Jr. and Justice Derek Vaughn. The walk concludes at Salem Baptist Church with a program and awards for the local heroes who help our North Omaha community thrive.
Why It Matters: In the heart of winter, this walk is a beautiful reminder of our shared strength and the dedicated people who keep our community’s spirit bright. Bundle up and join the group at the MLK monument on January 31 at 10:30 a.m. to walk together or take advantage of the available bus rides to the church program.
🎨 Artistic Bridges to Sicily

The Gist: Pine Elementary students are sharing their traditions through a binational art project called Little Hearts — Big Roots. Their drawings of local life and family will be transformed into murals at schools in our sister city of Carlentini, Sicily. Artist Lita de la Guardia is gathering these pieces to help children connect with their ancestral roots and diverse immigrant histories.
Why It Matters: This exchange honors our neighborhood's deep history while giving local children a chance to see their own stories displayed on a global stage. Students can submit artwork for the project until February 10.
