💉 Omaha Woman First to Get Breakthrough Cancer Therapy

The Gist: Kathy Folk, of Omaha, has become the first patient in Nebraska to receive CAR T-cell therapy entirely as an outpatient at Nebraska Medicine. The innovative treatment uses a patient’s own re-engineered T-cells to fight blood cancer, allowing Kathy to recover at home instead of in the hospital. Her latest scan showed the best results she’s had in 13 years.

🩸 New Blood Donor Center Opens

The Gist: Nebraska Community Blood Bank has opened the Eagle Run Donor Center at 13110 Birch Drive, offering a welcoming space for whole blood and platelet donations. Local leaders joined the ribbon-cutting, highlighting the urgent need as some blood types are down to just a 1–2 day supply.
