Some weeks are packed with big headlines. Others are made up of the little things that make living here enjoyable. A great sandwich. A photo exhibit. A free concert on a warm evening.

This week's Scoop leans into those everyday moments, with a few bigger stories mixed in that are worth keeping an eye on too. Scroll right on!

🌾 A Century of Nebraskaland at the Durham

The Gist: The Durham Museum has opened a new exhibition called Nebraskaland: Celebrating 100 Years Outdoors to honor a century of outdoor storytelling, conservation, and photography. Running through October 18, the showcase traces the history of Nebraskaland magazine, which the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission first launched in 1926 under the name Outdoor Nebraska.
Why It Matters: By blending stunning history with fun, kid-friendly interactive displays, it offers a great way for local families to connect with nature and appreciate the vital conservation work that keeps our state beautiful.
🏗️ North Omaha's "Innovation District" Picks Up Steam
The Gist: The Omaha Inland Port Authority, backed by a $30 million state grant, has been assembling property near 28th and Ames Avenue for a planned innovation district meant to bring jobs and new development to North Omaha. Leaders shared a progress update this month and are now building a road map to recruit employers and develop the site.
Why It Matters: It is another sign of steady, real investment in North Omaha, with the stated goal of keeping opportunity and jobs in the neighborhood.

🥪 Peak summer meets a scratch-made picnic

1415 Farnam St, Omaha
Kitchen Table has been Downtown’s easy answer to the dinner question since 2013. Owners Colin and Jessica Duggan build their changing menus around local farm harvests, which means July brings heirloom tomatoes, sweet corn, and zucchini jam.
Grab a Seasonal Vegetable Sandwich or the legendary meatloaf sandwich, complete with a side of seasoned popcorn. It is the ultimate no-cook summer fuel to pack for an evening at the park.

🛍️ Where local design meets community coffee chats

302 N Front Street, Omaha
A Local Collective started as simple coffee chats between two Omaha entrepreneurs has blossomed into a beautifully supportive hub for our homegrown shops.
This summer, the community is gearing up for the massive semi-annual boutique warehouse sale at Regency Court across from Garbo's. Spanning two consecutive weekends starting July 24, two dozen local boutiques are gathering to offer finds from five to twenty-five dollars, making room for the upcoming seasonal inventory.
