If your calendar has been looking a little empty lately, consider this your nudge. Between a new arts hub, a wine and comedy festival on the horizon, and a stacked weekend of events, there is a lot happening close to home.

Even the quieter moments feel special this week, like meeting a future pet or discovering a new favorite treat. Pick one thing and go, Omaha tends to do the rest.

🥐 A crisp, buttery spring in Aksarben & beyond

Aksarben Village (2283 S 67th St) & 14451 W Center Rd, Omaha, NE
Grand Patisserie just brought its signature Parisian flair to Aksarben Village, and the timing couldn’t be better for a seasonal refresh. The new space is bright and welcoming, perfect for grabbing a pistachio cake or a berry-studded pavlova before a morning stroll.
Their passionfruit tarts are bursting with sunshine, and the flaky, golden croissants remain the gold standard. It’s a sophisticated, local slice of indulgence that makes our neighborhood feel just a bit more elegant.

✨ A fresh hub for creative discovery

1115 Dodge St, Omaha, NE
The Tenaska Center for Arts Engagement officially joins our neighborhood today. While the ribbon cutting marks a major milestone for Dodge Street, the real magic starts when we step inside.
You can wander through the light-filled studios during the open house this Sunday, March 22, from noon to 4:00 PM. Explore dance, music, or theater! The upcoming community day + block party on April 11 features an instrument petting zoo, garden dancing, and so much more.
Spring and summer sessions are already open for enrollment, offering everything from toddler ArtsPlay to adult masterclasses.

🏘️ Making Omaha more livable for every age

The Gist: Mayor John Ewing officially committed Omaha to the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities this week. This initiative focuses on improving our local sidewalks, transit, and housing options to support residents as they grow older. By prioritizing accessibility, the city aims to create a more connected environment that benefits everyone from people with strollers to commuting workers.
Why It Matters: These changes help ensure our neighbors can stay in the homes and neighborhoods they love while remaining active and independent. Residents aged 45 and older can influence the five year action plan by completing a survey by May 1. You can find copies at Omaha Public Library branches, senior centers, or online.
🍷 Coming Soon: Wine and Laughter at Stinson Park

The Gist: TOAST Nebraska returns to Aksarben Village on May 8–9 for its annual spring festival. This year, the celebration features Nebraska natives Kristin Hensley and Jen Smedley of the viral comedy duo #IMOMSOHARD. Attendees can enjoy tastings from local favorites like Glacial Till and James Arthur Vineyards alongside artisan vendors, food trucks, and live comedy.
Why It Matters: It is a chance to support our local vintners while sharing a heartfelt laugh with friends during Mother’s Day weekend. Tickets are available now for the event. All guests must be 21 or older.
