⚡ New Power Plants Now Online

The Gist: Omaha Public Power District has officially opened its Turtle Creek and Standing Bear Lake stations, together generating 600 megawatts of power for the metro. Leaders also kicked off construction on a third turbine in partnership with Kiewit.

Why It Matters: These projects boost reliable energy for local homes and businesses while moving OPPD closer to its goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Construction continues on new facilities as OPPD plans for future growth. Read more here.

🚜 Claas invests $10M in new Omaha research hub

The Gist: Claas, the German ag equipment maker, broke ground on a $10 million, 44,800-square-foot research and development facility near its Sarpy County assembly plant. The center will let engineers test and fine-tune combines and machinery designed for U.S. and Canadian farms, moving operations out of rented space.

Why it matters: The project reinforces Omaha’s role as Claas’ North American headquarters, supporting 250 local jobs and strengthening ties with Nebraska’s agriculture sector. The facility is expected to open next fall. Read more here.
