โฝ Union Omahaโs Downtown Stadium Scores A Big Win

The Gist: The Omaha City Council voted 7-0 this Tuesday to greenlight the next steps for a $140 million professional soccer stadium in north downtown. Located at 11th and Izard St. on current Union Pacific land, the venue will feature 6,500 fixed seats (with a total capacity of 8,500) and anchor a massive mixed-use district with 450 apartments, dining, and retail. The city expects to close on the 25-acre property by April 30, aiming for a 2028 kickoff for Union Omaha, a new women's pro team, and a youth academy.
Why It Matters: Itโs a huge bridge connecting our existing landmarks like Charles Schwab Field and Millwork Commons into one vibrant, walkable neighborhood. By turning a largely unused railroad site into a pedestrian-friendly district, we're adding much-needed housing and a permanent home for the "Owls" without tapping into existing tax dollars. Keep an ear out for April 21, when a state committee holds a crucial hearing on the "turnback tax" funding that officials say is the final key to making the math work.

๐ฎ Hand-rolled tamales and high-vibe agave cocktails

1258 S 13th St, Omaha, NE
Masa Luna is what began as a wedding passion project for Chef Carlos Cuevas and partner Gillian that has evolved into Little Bohemiaโs most energetic multi-level haunt. Backed by the Fizzyโs and Nite Owl team, the space balances a 21+ edge with just the right amount of warmth.
While the blue corn quesadillas and elote focaccia are essentials, the hand-rolled tamales remain the soul of the menu. Pair a roasted pork tamale with a Maiz Old Fashioned while classic films flicker on the large screens!

๐ฟ A quiet garden of brewed alchemy

The air in Artemis Tea & Botanical, a true sanctuary, smells of crushed bergamot and wild herbs, a natural byproduct of Andrea Lawse's hand-blended batches.
You might stop in for the Huntress blend or a cup of Botanical Coffee, which marries Archetype beans with therapeutic tea and local honey. It is a slow, grounding space where hundreds of organic plant species line the walls, offering a bit of seasonal rhythm for the week ahead.
