The Gist: Two year old Merritt Squire, who is waiting for a heart transplant, got a special visit from her namesake, Omaha Supernovas player Merritt Beason.
The meeting at Children’s Nebraska gave the family a moment of joy as Merritt continues treatment with a Berlin Heart while awaiting a donor.

The Gist: Omaha Public Works released the 2025 holiday waste collection schedule. No garbage or recycling will be picked up on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, or New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, with routes shifting later in the week both times.
